This is a family style Chinese dish. There are a few restaurants who will serve something similar. It maybe named Shredded Pork with Dry Bean Curd or Pressed Pork with Tofu. Either way, the dish is made with ground or shredded pork and dry baked or marinated tofu. You can find the tofu at some supermarkets and it will be labeled “Baked Tofu”. Sometimes it will be seasoned with Five Spice or other flavors. Do not use Teriyaki flavored tofu.
Ingredients:
- 4-6 Green Onions
- 1 Red Pepper
- 1 Green Bell Pepper
- 20 oz Tofu (marinated or dry pressed or baked)
- 1.5 cups Marinated Pork
- 1/2 Tbl Five Spice Powder
- 1/2 Tbl Soy Sauce (light)
- 1 Tbl Vegetable Oil
- 1 Tbl Sesame Oil
- 1/4 cup Soy Sauce (light)
- 1/4 cup Tonkatsu sauce
Instructions:
Julienne green onions, red pepper, green pepper and tofu.
In separate bowl, add five spice and soy sauce to marinated pork. Set aside.
In large sauté pan or wok, heat pan and add 1 Tbl and pork. Cook on high until pork is fully cooked. Remove Pork from pan.
Add 1 Tbl sesame oil and vegetables to pan. Cook for about 3-4 minutes until peppers are done to your liking. Add Tofu, Soy Sauce and Tonkatsu sauce. Continue cooking for about 3-4 minutes for all the flavors to combine. Remove and serve with rice or chinese noodles.
