Eliza and Joey team up again for a fun look at how to cook live blue crabs.
Step 1: Buy Crabs
These are blue crabs Eliza is buying. You can buy blue crabs at most asian markets on the west coast and can probably buy them anywhere on the east coast or gulf 😉 Not sure about the mid-US. Can’t find blue crabs? You can use this same process with dungeness crabs, but you may need to increase the cooking time depending on the size of crabs you buy.
Step 2: Take Crabs Home
On the subway? A girl’s gotta get around.
You will Need:
- Water
- A Steaming Pot
- Fire
- Crabs
- Tongs
Step 3: Put crabs in Pot
WARNING: crabs are Feisty!
Add:
- Pepper
- Old Bay
- Salt
Wait about 20 minutes… and Serve!
Now you can enjoy your home cooked blue crabs.
