Chinese Rice Cake with Pork by Dish Ditty

This Rice Cake Noodles with Chinese Greens & Pork Recipe is a traditional Chinese noodle dish that is usually served during the Chinese New Year.  The noodles are called “Rice Ovalettes” and are one of the most unique noodles I’ve seen.  Made of rice, they are hard when cold and soft and chewy when warm.  This is one of my favorite dishes and I hope you will try it and enjoy it too.

Chinese Rice Cake with Pork & Chinese Greens

Ingredients

Step 1

In large bowl, soak the rice ovalettes in water and separate them so they aren’t sticking together. Clean and chop up the cabbage and bok choy, place in a large bowl. In a separate bowl, put the cleaned and chopped green onions and cilantro.

Step 2

In large sauté pan or wok, heat pan on medium heat and let it get hot before you move on. Once hot, add 1 Tbl Avocado Oil and 1 Tbl Sesame Oil Add the marinated pork meat and cook until pork is fully cooked. Remove from pan. Do not clean the pan.

Step 3

Add 1/2 Tbl Sesame Oil and 1/2 Tbl Avocado Oil and cabbage and bok choy to pan. Cook until the vegetables are softened but not fully cooked, about 1/2 in size.

Step 4

Add back the cooked meat, rice ovalettes, soy sauce and the brown braising sauce. Cook on high heat, stirring frequently, for about 5-8 minutes or until most of the liquid is absorbed. There will be a nice sauce remaining and the noodles will be soft and easy to eat. Remove from heat and serve as a full meal or as a side dish.
