Dressed Perogies Recipe

This is not really a recipe so much as a simple and easy way to serve Polish perogies. It is perfect for when you want something a little more than a boiled perogie.

Ingredients

• 1 packet Frozen Perogies (about 18) 1 packet Frozen Perogies
• 2 tablespoons Butter 2 tablespoon Butter
• 1/2 cup Onions (green or yellow, diced small) 1/2 cup Onions
• 1/4 cup Celery (diced small, optional) 1/4 cup Celery

Step 1

Prepare Perogies per package instructions. While perogies are cooking, in large pan heat butter with onions and celery. Cook on medium-low while perogies cook. When perogies are done per package instructions, drain but do not rinse. Add drained perogies to pan and increase heat to medium-high. Cook while tossing in butter and onion mixture for about 2 minutes. You can even brown the bottom of the perogies if desired. Serve with Sauerkraut.

There are many ways to serve perogies, but this Dressed Perogies Recipe is how I prefer to prepare them. I got the idea when I went on a trip to visit my sister in Pittsburgh, PA. We went to this amazing Polish Deli, S&D Polish Deli, and one of the options for serving the perogies was to serve them ‘dressed’. It was this recipe with just yellow onions (no green onions or celery).

I loved it so much, I came home and started making them this way when I was able to find good frozen perogies at the local market.
